Background

In 2020, Michael Mauro was approached by a rapidly scaling global people development consultancy that helps its clients identify, develop, and retain tomorrow’s top leadership.

Since then, Michael Mauro has supported them with the design and delivery of multiple in-person and digital high-potential assessment and development centres, leader labs and facilitated sessions for their clients.

Example 1: Assessment and Development Centre Design and Delivery

A global client wished to create leadership development pathways aligned with their succession planning strategies. To identify the specific high-potential development needs of future leaders, the consulting firm engaged Michael Mauro to establish a deep partnership with the Learning and Development team.

Michael Mauro became embedded within the organisation, meeting with multiple stakeholders to gain a full grasp of their context. This rich understanding informed the design of their virtual assessments and development centres.

These bespoke virtual development centres included various activities, such as role plays (Peer Meetings, Manager Meetings, Direct Report Meetings), emails, and case study materials).

 

All these activities were deployed globally, and customized capability frameworks were integrated, enabling a consistent and robust high-potential identification and development experience. These included:

A multinational financial institution was on an inclusive mission to identify and develop its future c-suite. Specifically, they were experiencing challenges regarding digitalisation, increased competition, and unpredictable financial markets.

After identifying future leaders across multiple operating subsidiaries across the world, Michael Mauro was engaged to facilitate high-impact digital simulations, group and one-on-one development activities, and coaching. All the activities were capability mapped to a future leadership framework that was specifically designed for this programme.

 

The Results

Michael Mauro was engaged over three consecutive years to support the development of future leaders for the C-suite across multiple operating entities. This also resulted in:
